Did you know that you can't "realize" an "accession to wealth" unless
there first was an activity? The point that is obviously beyond your
comprehension, chewy, is that an activity is incorporated within the
meaning of 'income'. The specific activity just does not matter for
purposes of determining whether or not an accession to wealth was realized.
Therefore, INCOME is both the measure and subject of the tax.
