Three things come to mind here.

1. How long before there's a thread titled "KillaWatt Myths Myths"?
2. Why are there so many articles about solar power, yet all but one
fail to mention surprise-baby's appliance power needs?
3. If a perfect "design" includes a washing machine and a generator to
power it, then what effect will over-"auditing" a computer's
consumption have on washing diapers?

The funniest part is that the Ghinius only has a little over a kWh per
day to begin with, so how big an allowance could he have for
unexpected babies and defibrillators anyway? Darned if it isn't
exactly the difference between his computer's actual draw, and its
power-supply rating! Good thing he didn't buy one of those computers
with a 500W supply, he'd have needed to triple the size of his array.
'Course, that would *still* be a perfect example of "good design",
since he'd be prepared for the unexpected arrival of a couple litters
of sextuplets.

BTW, NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition. /zj3el
When will George tell us how much extra energy to allow for that?
