I was refering to the dramatic increase in the price of natural
gas before that time. Back when building new nuclear plants
was not being considered, natural gas was much cheaper,
and utilities prefered gas-fired combustion turbines. They
were cheap and easy to install. The power from those
turbines is now quite expensive.
