I don't think biofuels have to be the one, singular and only
source of energy. As only a small part of the solution for
powering a civilization, they certainly won't have the kind of
impact you describe.

Besides, I don't think it's possible for humans to wipe out
all life on Earth. The best we can do is wipe out a few species,
our own included.
