Hydro has been around for years. I think it could be expanded if we
look at small low head projects that don't disrupt things too much.
Problem is, the investors tend to look more at big projects where they
will flood a lot of land or have rivers going up and down 10 feet
every day. So yeah, they get a lot of resistance to that type of
project.

Here in upstate NY, there are literally dozens of small-scale, run-of-river
hydro projects. The Oswego river and Salmon river are two that have
multiple, small-scale hydro projects. You don't read much about them
because they aren't 'flashy', but most of the small-scale hydro sites are
already being used.
