If the Tesla turbine was remotely as efficient as other
types, wouldn't it have found a lot more uses?

I was never clear on how a flat disk is supposed to couple
to the working fluid, other than some nebulous explanation
about a kind of surface tension effect between the disc
surface and the working fluid molecules. I've seen videos
of 'demonstrations' of homemade devices, but they all seem
to make the classic mistake of confusing motion for real
work.

Apparently the Tesla turbine efficiency is extremely poor
when a work load is applied.
