actually he did, It's called a radio reciever.

and yes, you could build one to draw power, until the local radio
stations hunt you down and the FCC fines you for jamming radio
signals(including emergency and military)

learned about this in tech school, can easily get enought to run a
small calculator, for abotu 10 times the price of a solar cell thats
usually included in the calculator.

good in theory, but not in practicality
