On the news tonight was information that TransCanada was going to
proceed to tear up
land, farmland and roadways to build their Keystone pipeline to
Oklahoma and Illinois.
Ruining vast tracts of farmland. The TV news said they would fill in
potholes created by
the pipeline. Well, those are petty concerns.
The major concern that TransCanada has never addressed is to show
their maths. Show
us how piping that Canadian sludge to Oklahoma is better than
railroading refined petrol
from Canada to Oklahoma.
Unless TransCanada shows their maths and shows how they save energy
and not waste
it by piping, are they liable for a huge and massive lawsuit.
According to my maths, refining the tar sands up in Canada and then
railroad hauling the
product into the USA saves 29,000 barrels of oil per every 400,000
barrels refined and
the railroad method does not ruin one single farmland since we already
have vast railroad
lines in place.
So unless TransCanada shows their maths and makes a convincing
argument that piping
is better than railroading, well, they are setting the stage for a
massive lawsuit that not
only would stop them but have wasted alot of time, energy, money.
And not only will TransCanada be assailed by environment groups but
assailed by other oil
companies who do know the maths that TransCanada and Conoco-Phillips
are conniving to
not reveal. Other oil companies know that railroading saves energy and
saves this planet
of unneeded extra pollution.
So if TransCanada starts their Keystone pipeline, do not be surprized
they are halted in
their tracks half way built.
